Partner with Orphan and Family Care
Partner with Orphan and Family Care and help pastors care for orphans! The Lulu Tree believes that all children belong in families. Rather than traditional orphanages, we do our best to place orphaned and abandoned children in homes with relatives in the villages where they live. When families are struggling to care for their own children, taking in a brother or sister’s child can be too much. The Lulu Tree provides microloans and support to families who take in orphans, to help offset the cost of having another child in the family. In addition, when relatives are not an option for placement, friends and neighbors may receive support to take in a child–keeping the child in familiar surroundings with people who care.
When placement with relatives or neighbors is not possible, orphans are cared for by the village pastors. Some of these pastors include Sonnel Kamara, who started Bethel Home with his wife Mommy Christiana in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and Ezekiel and his wife Musu in Kamassaralie Village. The children are raised with loving adoptive parents, and will remain in the home until they are grown.
Partnering in this area will help with the costs of supporting these new families, sending the children to school, and providing support for those who take in orphaned children.
The Lulu Tree is dedicated to being good stewards of your gift, and we are happy to report that 97% of your donation goes directly to benefit members of the Lulu Tree family in Africa. The remaining 3% goes to admin costs, and the North American team chooses to work for free to ensure that your donation is put into the hands of those who need it most.
