Partner with the South Sudanese Refugee Program
Partner with the South Sudanese Refugee Program and bring hope to refugees living in Uganda. Due to the violence in South Sudan, over 1.4 million refugees have crossed the border and are now living in Uganda. The situation is dire; those displaced have been through terrible trauma and are living in extreme poverty in overcrowded conditions. There is currently no hope of going back to South Sudan, so they must find a way to start over in Uganda.
Compounding the crisis is the fact that 84% of the refugees are women and children, with many child-headed households trying to make it on their own.
The Refugee Program is dedicated to partnering with pastors who are already making a difference in their communities in the camps. Currently we are partnering with Pastor Santos, the first pastor to have a church in any of the three camps and an active reconciler amongst tribes and people groups. Pastor Santos runs a training school for all tribes to attend, where they can learn hairdressing and tailoring. He also is involved in the training of other pastors and personnel, and is greatly respected amongst the South Sudan camps. It is our desire to encourage and equip this man of God in helping him to help his people.
The Lulu Tree is dedicated to being good stewards of your gift, and we are happy to report that 97% of your donation goes directly to benefit members of The Lulu Tree family in Africa. The remaining 3% goes to admin costs, and the North American team chooses to work for free to ensure that your donation is put into the hands of those who most need it.
