Venezuela

“It was a shock for us to know that there was someone in the world, who worked in Asia and Africa, who was interested in helping us. Nothing like this had ever happened.”

~ Rev. Miguel Zabala, Lulu Tree Venezuela

GOD LED US

He whispered “The Amazon” even as we prayed, and led us to a man who travels the rivers.

It was 2023. I had heard of this man who traveled the waters, carrying the Harvestime courses by canoe, bringing Bible School to villages in the heart of Venezuela, and I thought — that’s the kind of man I would like to partner with.

Never thinking that God might be calling us to South America. Yet the whisper came one night while I prayed. I heard “The Amazon” and thus began 40 days of fasting and seeking God for this new direction. Once the fast was over, we knew we were to partner with Miguel Zabala.

Miguel is a man of much passion and years, who spreads God’s love to hundreds of villagers in southern Venezuela. He has also trained hundreds of pastors. We are honored to partner with him in the hopes of helping to bring hope and freedom to those he already serves.

In 2025, God whispered again to help the women of Venezuela – most of whom are married off by 13 and then expected to carry the majority of the workload. He led us to Anahis, a godly woman who pastors a house church alongside her husband, Felipe, in the north. Through her, we began to equip women and children in Venezuela.

From the Heart of Miguel

“I am very truly grateful to the Lord for His mercy and faithfulness to His Word. And we also thank God for the feeling of helping us that He has placed in the hearts of the Lulu Tree. For us it is a very great miracle on God’s part. Beyond this perspective, we are very identified with the ministry that you develop towards communities of extreme poverty. We have founded three congregations in Caracas, in very marginal areas, and we give them to other pastors, formed with Harvestime. The ministerial call that the Lord has given me is for very poor communities. I feel a lot of compassion for those people.”

Equipping Villages

POULTRY EDUCATION CENTER

A poultry project has been launched under the leadership of Miguel in southern Venezuela, with the goal of one day sustaining current ministry projects, removing dependency on foreign sources.

Through the hard work of local volunteers, land has been donated, a chicken coop constructed, and a certain breed of chicken — an egg-laying variety — purchased. The 100 hens are now laying eggs and the eggs, being sold to support the training of local pastors and church leaders in Biblical ministries.

Currently Miguel is overseeing Harvestime courses in southern Venezuela and northern Columbia, training up church leaders all along the rivers.

SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS

We prayerfully select 20 vulnerable mothers for each one-year discipleship program. The mothers chosen belong to a local church and are widows, or abandoned, or their husbands are disabled or ill. Each participant receives a sustainable project of her choosing, in line with the allotted budget.

The projects are then monitored by the local church, and training given monthly in finance, budgeting, and tithing.

Projects include tailoring, catering, goat or chicken rearing, decorating, hairdressing, and providing educational services such as computer skills.

Upon completion of the year, it is expected that each mother would then use some of her profits to assist another needy woman in her community, thus continuing the cycle of ending poverty.

DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING

In addition to meeting their material needs, each of the mothers in northern Venezuela is enrolled by Anahis in a one-year discipleship program consisting of 12 Bible-based courses. The mothers gather weekly to study together and eat a meal together. Often they will also engage in a form of game.

The biblical courses, supplied by Harvestime Institute, train the mothers to not only love themselves as Christ loves them, but to share the gospel with their children and their neighbors. Courses include Biblical Theology, Strategies for a Spiritual Harvest, and Intercessory Prayer.

Mothers then graduate after one year with a one-year discipleship certificate, strengthened in the knowledge that they are a beloved daughter of the Most High God. Following graduation, they begin to share the good news door to door, drawing others into the kingdom.
